AVOID GETTING A TOURIST TRAP WHILE VISITING PARIS
There are more than 8,000 Parisian restaurants. Sure, you could flip through Trip Advisor but you will be overwhelmed with (good and bad) amateur selections and miss the really cool spots.
GO WHERE THE PROS GO
Where do local food and wine experts eat and drink in Paris? Do they go to all the trendy places you heard about? None of them? Some of them? I’ll tell you: trendy is not a thing for them. They want to get value for their money and they know how to get it. If it’s a trendy place, fine, if not so be it!
PLACES I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND TO MY FRIENDS
My name is Tristan. I work in food and wine communication and have been living in Paris for more than 15 years. A lot of my Parisian or foreign friends often ask me for bakery, restaurant and bars tips. Let me share them with you in this app.
THE PLACES YOU SEE ARE THE PLACES I GO TO
Of course some great restaurants (may be better) didn’t make it to this app. But this is a genuine, honest guide of places I love to eat and drink in Paris when I am with friends, family, people visiting…
CURATED CONTENT TO MAKE YOUR FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE EASY
When I visit a new city, I usually ask tips from people who live or used to live there. The 3 to 5 best someone can think of. Not more as I won’t have time visit them all and I really want to know their food crushes. I do not want to be overwhelmed with infos. I believe holidays are for relaxing and have a good time most of all. It is not a race against the clock to tick every box in a foodie’s list.
So here you will browse by themes. 5 places in each, no more, no less. As I wanted to do practical, and easy to use.
UPDATED CONTENT
This app is meant be a living list of nice places. For example, some places will be replaced as I found better. And more importantly, more themes will come like « Parisian Rendez-Vous », « Meat Love », « Veggie Tables »…
AFFORDABLE GOURMET
Someone asked me recently what was the best place for lunch in Paris. I asked back : on which occasion, for what budget ? I you ask me, I would go to Alain Passard’s 3 Michelin Stars restaurant l’Arpège everyday. I went once and it was memorable. But this is not realistic.
« Normal » people like me, even if I am in the food and wine business, are careful about how much we spend and more importantly, for what. We want value for money. This is what it is about in this app. Depending on the occasion, you will be able to find a meal from €15 - €70 depending on how special your experience needs to be.
GET BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY
Main street restaurants pay for the location and so do you. Great restaurants dont need tourist exposure since Parisians in the know take pride in avoiding the over priced eateries. Finding that little hidden gem of a restaurant in a quiet back street is the real joy of eating well in Paris.
